Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed with a tsunami of unproductive thoughts? If you serve in any leadership capacity this mind storm can attack you unexpectedly at a moments notice. There will be times that there is so much to do you don't know what to do! During high pressure seasons in your work and home life it is important to recognize internal stressors. It is vital that one deciphers what tasks require pertinent attention and others that are merely time wasters.

Countless individuals neglect daily maintenance of professional and personal responsibilities until the molehill becomes a mountain. When you arrive at this place what most frequently occurs is the ostrich syndrome. We seek to bury our head in the sands of life finding it easier to avoid rather than attack the mission at hand. Don't allow yourself to become paralyzed in procrastination, pity or powerlessness.

How do we create new momentum when the wind in our sails has whisked away from us? I believe the main key is found in one of my favorite quotes is by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe which states, "What you can do or dream you can do-begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Only engage and the mind grows heated. Begin it and the work will be completed."

Step one in moving from the mundane to the magnificent: Begin again. Start the article. Pick up the phone and book the appointment. Motion begets motion.

Step two: Follow up. Give yourself a timeline for obtaining results to the effort invested and seeds planted for a successful harvest.

Step three: Finish what you've started. Loose ends must be clipped. Everytime you complete an assignment your confidence level will skyrocket.
