Leading estate agents Sandfords has expanded into sought-after Primrose Hill, by opening a new office in the area, demonstrating the company's confidence in the strength of the property market in London.

Sandfords' increased presence in what is one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in London has been on the firm's list of priorities for some time now, as it aims to increase market share and take advantage of high demand for homes to buy as well as houses and flats to rent in Primrose Hill.

Although Primrose Hill is an area that many Londoners know, it has been overlooked as a residential location as far as some buyers and renters are concerned, according to Halliday.

"Primrose Hill is surprisingly exclusive - there are a lot of people who have never heard of it," he said. "The friendly community atmosphere has attracted many celebrities to the area, but to live their lives rather than as a statement of their success."

Julia Garber says that traditionally some people have often preferred to associate themselves with one of the surrounding prime areas – St John's Wood, Belsize Park and South Hampstead – but times are changing, owed partly to the lack of property to rent in St Johns Wood, while others are simply looking for an alternative place to live.

Garber commented: "It [Primrose Hill] is a very family oriented area and a bit bohemian, so it appeals to a lot of people who don't want to live in St John's Wood or Marylebone."

Aside from homes in Primrose Hill, Sandfords will continue to offer properties for sale as well as flats and houses to rent in Regents Park, which is located a short walk away.

"On a sunny day, the cafes of Regent's Park Road spill out on the pavements, bringing a touch of Parisian cafe life to north London," Garber added.
