For the past decade, Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital, a beacon of hope set in the center of the metropolitan area, has focused on providing inner-city children with the emergency, inpatient, and critical care services they need. Additionally the innovative hospital provides its young patients with vital specialty services such as the Georgia Poison Center. It is also the largest provider of pediatric sickle cell, asthma and child abuse services in this metropolitan area.

Hospital administrator, Carla Parris along with Mary Rose Taylor and Ron Martin, co- chair a group of dedicated steering committee members, who have taken on the challenge of raising both the visibility of the hospital and needed funds to further the institution’s mission. This year’s goal is to raise funds for the renovation of patient facilities and expansion of programs at Hugh Spalding.

"The current renovation plans will provide for state-of-the-art technical services and offer a more family-friendly area within the inpatient department," says Ms. Parris. "Enlarged patient rooms and an expanded family area for parent overnight stays will facilitate a family-centered environment."
