Atlanta, GA: (March 25, 2005) – Who are the best Hip Hop dancers in the ATL? Calling all Atlanta Hip Hop dance enthusiasts. This competition is for you! Contests to discover the best Hip Hop dancers in metro Atlanta will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Greenbriar and South Dekalb Malls. Winners get the envious opportunity of performing on stage at the Fabulous Fox Theatre on May 7 prior to the cast of the world renowned BREAK! The Urban Funk Spectacular.

Judging the competition on April 9 at Greenbriar Mall, 2841Greenbriar Parkway, SW Atlanta 30331 from 10 AM until Noon will be boxing champ Evander Holyfield, Jive Recording Artist Bone Crusher and famed Choreographer Devyne Stephens. Judging at South Dekalb Mall, 2801 Candler Rd., Decatur, GA 30032 from 1 PM until 3 PM will be Evander Holyfield, Devyne Stephens and Atlanta Journal & Constitution Music Writer Sonia Murray. Other surprise Hip Hop celebrities will be present. A live remote by Hot 107.9 will be hosted by CJ of the morning show.

DETAILS: Participants must be between 6 and 21 years old. Routine must be no more than 2 minutes. Participants must supply their own music in CD format. Each winner will receive 2 tickets to the show and the opportunity to dance on stage at the Fox prior to the performance on May 7. BREAK! The Urban Funk Spectacular traces the history of Hip Hop Dancing over the last thirty years. It is a tribute to this American urban art form, defying definition with roots that run deep through the streets of inner cities. Though the exact origins of Hip Hop are unclear, dance elements hearken back to an African tradition, involving a variety of footwork patterns, spinning and gymnastic type moves.

Cast members are supremely talented artists from the world of "Break dancing," "Locking," "Electric Boogaloo," or "Popping," Power Tumbling, as well as DJ-ing and Bucket Drumming. They have traveled the world, amazing and thrilling audiences in the universal language of the street - dance.
