The swift strokes of the cactus apple dye, indigo ink and watercolor gives ARTE MECCO a relative oriental similarity. Creating more character to ARTE MECCO, upon delegating the traditional airy effect of negative space, has taught me how to balance structures. A dedication and appreciation for nature is more present in this year (s) ARTE MECCO creations. I have used the scents of various flowers along with tropical music to direct my inspiration. The scent of the tropical Magnolia flower, with its rather stingy perfume fragrance, has placed an emphasis on creating ARTE MECCO into elongated images. It is the lingering fragrance of the Magnolia flower, that I somehow want for the ARTE MECCO image to linger longer on the paper.

The Hyglyx, in a rather pepper sort array, places a spiky interruption to the ARTE MECCO flow. This invasion onto the negative space gives ARTE MECCO cleanness. The ARTE MECCO paintings are looking more like tapestry scrolls. The elongation of the paper stained by the cactus apple dye and decorated by The Hyglyx, traditionally imported by ARTE MECCO, leaves much room for further development. The Hyglyx are becoming larger and conveying some sort of meaning. An example of this is in the ARTE MECCO painting Xiji #13/2005. The Hyglyx of the cotton plants is prevalent in this ARTE MECCO painting. Another example of this larger development of The Hyglyx is present in the ARTE MECCO painting Wisjina #12/2005. Feeling a strong natural quest to elicit and apply natural juices to the ARTE MECCO paintings, I’m not journeying away from the bulk and basic of this unique art style. The swiftness of the strokes isn’t relative to the simplicity of the painting. My vocabulary of movement, and how it relates to line, still remain a cognitive link of movement in motion. This quest I partook in the year 2003, and fascination with the Indian Ocean, has broaden the realm of the style of ARTE MECCO.
