This workshop is an introduction to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and its application to treating multi-diagnostic, difficult to treat populations. Through didactic training and experiential exercises, participants will become familiar with the DBT model of group skills training. Participants will learn how to structure a skills group and how to manage therapy-interfering behaviors that can occur within the group context. Primary focus will be placed on the four modules involved in DBT group treatment: 1) mindfulness, 2) distress tolerance, 3) interpersonal effectiveness, and 4) emotion regulation skills
