1. Visualize.
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
To successfully achieve your sales goals you must have a clear vision of what you want or expect. Visualizing is the process of creating a mental picture in your mind of what you want to happen before it has happened. Instead of mentally asserting, for instance, that you will one day have a successful sales career, picture yourself as already having a successful sales career – now!
Visualizing your goals in the present tense instructs your mind to compress time and bring the accomplishment of those goals as quickly as possible into the present.
So practice visualizing everyday. Because, if you can see it. You can achieve it.

2. Write it down.
Each of your goals should be written in one complete sentence. When you write your goals down, you are making a commitment to achieve them. Non-written goals are unclear and tend to change each time you think about them. Putting each goal in writing crystallizes it in a set of fixed details.
Once you write your goals down, establish reasons why you want to achieve your goals. For example, if you one of your goals is to become the top sales rep in your company, establish at least five reasons why you want to achieve this goal.

3. Develop a plan.
Before you can reach your sales goals, you must plan.
A plan is your blueprint for success.
Trying to achieve sales success without a plan is like trying to drive your car with your hands tied behind your back – attempting to get somewhere with no control of your direction. A plan gives you control of your direction. With a well thought out plan, you will be able to achieve more than you ever imagined.
Plans for sales success include:
a. Develop and maintain a positive attitude.
b. Practice overcoming objectives.
c. Sell benefits, not features.
d. Ask for referrals.
e. Network.

5. Persist.
Never give up on your goals.
Don’t let frustration, discouragement, or circumstances prevent you from reaching the success you desire and deserve.
Success in sales often requires persistence and commitment to see it through to achievement.
Studies show that it sometimes takes 5 to 7 follow-ups with a prospect before he or she will say yes. So you must be persistent. In an effort to sustain and persist, you must keep your mind on your goal, focus on your reasons, encourage yourself on a regular basis and share your goals with a confidant who will give you the encouragement and support it takes to succeed.
The sooner you implement the power of persistence, the faster you will be on your way to sales success.
