The Clinton School of Public Service seeking Minority Applicants to Master of Public Service Degree Program (Scholarships Available)

The vision of the Clinton School is about to come alive…in the fall of 2005, the school will welcome its inaugural class. We expect a number of qualified applicants for our inaugural year and plans already are underway to expand the number of students in subsequent years. Applicants from all academic and professional backgrounds who are interested in public service careers whether in the public, for-profit, non-profit or volunteer sectors – will be considered.

The Clinton School will strive to continually be responsive to the needs of our students and the public by:



* Operating as a professional school, linking both academic and practical parameters to explore the world of public service



* Establishing and maintaining a community of students, scholars, and experienced public servants to address the challenges that confront local, state, national and international leaders

* Finding innovative ways to address community problems through partnerships and alliances that mobilize and leverage the resources of the public, for-profit, non-profit and volunteer sectors



* Developing the skills necessary to manage complex problems, taking into account the experience and interest of those who come to public service after first pursuing careers in other fields



* Emphasizing the importance of civic engagement in the process of comprehensive community development.

Three general types of education will be provided at the Clinton School of Public Service: Master’s in Public Service degree program, a post-baccalaureate certificate program, and an ongoing series of seminars, workshops, and conferences for the general public.

Although a core group of full-time faculty will be located at UACS, the largest number of faculty will be drawn from other sites including the campuses of the University of Arkansas System, scholars visiting the Presidential Library and political associates and colleagues of President Clinton during and after his White House years. Faculty will be drawn from across the ideological spectrum, not restricted to Democrats and Republicans, and not limited to U.S. citizens. President Clinton has indicated a desire to personally participate in the school’s seminars.
