NEW YORK, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Blaylock & Partners, L.P., the
leading minority and woman-owned investment banking firm, today
announced that it has hired former Wasserstein Perella managing
director Jamie Barker to oversee a major expansion of the firm's
equities group.
Mr. Barker is responsible for overseeing and growing Blaylock's
equity sales, trading and research functions. Blaylock's intends to
build an equities capability comparable in size, reputation and
competitive strength to its long established fixed income group.
As part of this initiative, Blaylock also has hired veteran media
and entertainment analyst John Tinker.

we have long been known primarily as a fixed-income operation, we plan
to significantly bolster our equity sales and trading along with our

Mr. Barker was formerly chief operating officer of Wasserstein
Perella's equities group, which achieved significant growth under his
leadership. Following Wasserstein's acquisition by Dresdner Kleinwort
Benson, he was responsible for global distribution of U.S. equities.
Previously, Mr. Barker, 45, was a managing director at Deutsche Bank,
where he ran the day-to-day activities of its equity sales and trading
operations and was a member of the bank's global operating committee.

Mr. Barker noted that Blaylock is well positioned to attract

Mr. Tinker, 45, a well-known media and entertainment analyst, most
recently managed Steamer Capital, a New York-based money management
firm. Earlier, Mr. Tinker co-founded the media and communications
division of Montgomery Securities, which was subsequently acquired by
Banc of America. He also worked as a media analyst at Furman Selz and
Morgan Stanley.

focus on four sectors: media and telecom; financial services; energy;

Mr. Barker, a Bronx native, holds a degree in finance from Iona
College in New Rochelle, NY.
Mr. Tinker, who grew up in the UK, came to the United States in
1983. He holds a master's degree in politics, philosophy & economics
from Oxford University.
