PHILADELPHIA, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Tenet HealthSystem and Tenet
Healthcare Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Tenet Healthcare
Corporation
(NYSE: THC) , has awarded a $30,000 grant to help fund this year's
WHYY Speaking of Women's Health Conference to be held on May 18.
Organized by WHYY, Inc., the region's leading public television and
radio station, the conference's main purpose is to raise awareness and
educate women about relevant health issues, especially among
minorities. Last year more than 500 women from the tri-states area
attended the event. More than 700 are expected to attend this year's
conference.
"As seen by the great participation last year, our community has a
tremendous need for increased education and research on women's health
issues," said Barry A. Wolfman, senior vice president, operations, for
Tenet HealthSystem, Pennsylvania Region, which also sponsored last
year's conference. "We're emphasizing the need to attract women from
all cultural and socioeconomic groups, particularly African-Americans,
Hispanics and Asian- Americans."
The conference also will raise funds for women's health research
and education in the greater Philadelphia area, honor local women's
health and well-being champions and raise funds for women's health
programming on WHYY.
Leading local health experts, including several physicians
affiliated with Tenet's hospitals, will be featured speakers. For more
information about the event, call Rita Klus at 215-351-2074.
