Responsibilities:
Client Services (60%)
Oversee the development and implementation of high-quality integrated communications, earned and shared media, and outreach plans with effective short- and long-term strategies to support clients’ objectives and increase campaign visibility. Ensure that all activities complement and support the services being provided by other agency departments.
Develop strategic communications plans, messaging frameworks, and content that educate, engage, and inspire the intended audiences to take the desired action. Facilitate engagement with and input from clients and stakeholders to align on campaign messaging, and ensure messaging is consistently applied across all communications activities.
Lead and/or oversee the strategy and execution of earned media for clients , including conducting media outreach and generating earned media; planning media tours, press conferences, and/or launch events; providing media training and interview/presentation coaching, and providing talking points and other materials as needed.
Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities with key community-based organizations and like-minded brands to advance client and agency goals.
Collaborate on the development of influencer marketing programs that tie in with and maximize the impact of client campaigns.
Measure, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of communication initiatives . This includes assessing the value of earned and shared media advertising, conducting sentiment analysis, and evaluating the impact of influencer campaigns.
Cultivate strong and productive relationships with clients, serving as a reliable advisor with strategic advice on various challenges, including political, regulatory, and organizational issues.
Stay up to date and push the agency forward with creative and innovative communications and public relations strategies and tactics .
Agency Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (20%)
Contribute to and support the agency’s external marketing initiatives to promote Civilian’s culture, services, and success stories, including writing feature articles/blog posts, submitting awards, and presenting at conferences.
Oversee Civilian’s communications and public relations approach for business development proposals, including contributing to campaign strategy, proposing earned, shared, and owned media approaches, drafting content for proposals and work plans, and providing timelines and budget estimates.
Help prepare for and participate in business development pitches .
Department Development, Management, and Support (20%)
Manage an effective and high-performing team. Delegate department assignments; outline expectations of and communicate effectively with team members; leverage the strengths of team members and provide coaching around areas for growth; navigate variances in workload and time requirements for both yourself and your team members.
Mentor and develop department team members using a collaborative approach based on clearly defined development goals and regular systems for feedback. Provide coaching to assist in each team members’ professional development. Conduct performance reviews, and make merit increase and/or and title change recommendations as appropriate.
Serve as an ambassador for both the agency and the department. Contribute to a positive, productive, and supportive working environment that lives into the agency’s Core Values. Communicate effectively and proactively with other department heads to address any performance issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
Supervise high-level subcontractor scopes of work, as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of experience in strategic communications and public relations within a marketing, advertising, and/or PR agency
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent business experience preferred
Expert knowledge of and experience developing strategic communications plans and messaging frameworks, ideating and executing high-impact earned media programs, and communicating and building trust with both internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of the California media market required
Experience with the nuances of public sector, government, or CA local, regional, and state politics preferred
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills
Proven ability to develop and implement communications and public relations plans that achieve specific, measurable results
Able to develop and tailor communications to effectively connect with diverse audiences; capable of adapting strategies and tactics to respond to client or audience feedback

Job Overview
The Director of Campus and Community Sustainability is a key position within the Georgetown University Office of Sustainability to lead and manage implementation of sustainability initiatives on campus and in the community.
They direct and facilitate internal stakeholder engagement to inform sustainability strategic planning, lead campus and community project implementation and reporting, manage partnerships with local community groups, and serve as the point of contact on District of Columbia public policy for the Office of Sustainability.
They direct the facilitation of organizational change for sustainability on campus and in the community. Projects and programs may provide experiential learning and have research and educational components to support the academy.
As well, they form key partnerships with cross-functional teams and departments, as well as with external private, public, and non-profit organizations.

The Georgetown Environment Initiative is a University-wide effort to advance the multidisciplinary study of the environment and sustainability in relation to society, scientific understanding, sound policy, and the complex challenges faced as stewards of the Earth. The Office of Sustainability and Georgetown Environment Initiative partner to bridge institutional action with teaching and research to positively impact the future of the planet, and to place Georgetown at the forefront of local and global environment discussions and actions.
The Director of Campus and Community Sustainability reports to the Vice President for Sustainability, who leads the Office of Sustainability in ensuring the sustainability goals of the University are being achieved across all campuses. The Director manages the implementation team of the Office of Sustainability to design innovative ways to address sustainability problems in a large and complex urban setting in collaboration with faculty, students, staff and external partners.
The Director manages both strategic priorities as well as the tactical execution of the sustainability agenda; coordinates across the University and within the Sustainability team to ensure effective operations among various parties; and provides definition and execution of strategic operational projects and initiatives - to include leading all aspects of the project including scheduling, resourcing, development and implementation, working with internal and external areas to roll out projects.
The Director works on behalf and at the direction of the VP, interacting regularly with key university stakeholders, acting as a designee in the absence of the VP, and providing guidance and advice on sustainability related matters.
As well, the Director drives decisions when appropriate to ensure the sustainability strategy advances in a timely and collaborative manner.

Requirements and Qualifications
The Director of Campus and Community Sustainability is the operational and engagement sustainability expert responsible for implementation of the University's progress towards its sustainability goals. They are recognized as an expert among those in the field, and applies a high degree of knowledge of the overall field, as well as principles, practices, and procedures of localized sustainable development to complete complex and difficult projects and programs.
The Director must have demonstrated ability to form trusted and effective relationships and partnerships, and the ability to manage such partnerships in a way that leads to mutual benefit in the implementation of sustainability programs and projects.
The Director should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 4-5 years of experience in facilitating collaborative, stakeholder-based planning processes; developing, implementing, and measuring the success of programs, projects and initiatives for sustainability outcomes; and should have at least 5 years of direct work experience in institutional sustainability in the public or private sector.
Analytical and communication abilities are required, with demonstrated subject matter knowledge preferred in sustainability functional areas and how they are connected to social equity and economic prosperity - e.g., inclusive sustainability, water resources, clean energy, urban biodiversity, sustainable transportation, green and responsible procurement, sustainable investment, circularity of materials, regenerative economy, sustainable built environment, sustainable food systems.

The Director of Campus and Community Sustainability reports to the Vice President for Sustainability, who leads the Office of Sustainability in ensuring the sustainability goals of the University are being achieved across all campuses. The Director manages the implementation team of the Office of Sustainability to design innovative ways to address sustainability problems in a large and complex urban setting in collaboration with faculty, students, staff and external partners.
The Director manages both strategic priorities as well as the tactical execution of the sustainability agenda; coordinates across the University and within the Sustainability team to ensure effective operations among various parties; and provides definition and execution of strategic operational projects and initiatives - to include leading all aspects of the project including scheduling, resourcing, development and implementation, working with internal and external areas to roll out projects.

Requirements and Qualifications
The Director of Campus and Community Sustainability is the operational and engagement sustainability expert responsible for implementation of the University's progress towards its sustainability goals. They are recognized as an expert among those in the field, and applies a high degree of knowledge of the overall field, as well as principles, practices, and procedures of localized sustainable development to complete complex and difficult projects and programs.
The Director must have demonstrated ability to form trusted and effective relationships and partnerships, and the ability to manage such partnerships in a way that leads to mutual benefit in the implementation of sustainability programs and projects.
The Director should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 4-5 years of experience in facilitating collaborative, stakeholder-based planning processes; developing, implementing, and measuring the success of programs, projects and initiatives for sustainability outcomes; and should have at least 5 years of direct work experience in institutional sustainability in the public or private sector.

NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to join our collaborative team and support the implementation of the statewide Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2) by providing technical support to regional staff assisting the program and working with regional stakeholders to further develop the program.
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will:
Develop plans to protect drinking water sources throughout the State of New York and serve as a resource for regional staff who develop and implement plans across New York state
Collaborate with state agencies, regional planning boards, municipal leaders, water operators, local health departments and other stakeholders to implement plans and to coordinate and develop the program.
Assist with other tasks related to water supply protection, such as water quality sampling, database management, data analysis, performing sanitary surveys or capacity assessments for public water systems.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have:
A degree in environmental sciences or related field, and three years of professional or technical experience.
Knowledge of and experience with aspects of drinking water quality programs, state/federal regulations, and watershed management.
Experience collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders in implementing environmental programs.
Competence in statistical analysis of large data sets and competence in GIS is highly valued.
Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.
Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in the New York State Department of Health office located in Albany, NY. NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to join our collaborative team and support the implementation of the statewide Drinking Water Source Protection Program (DWSP2) by providing technical support to regional staff assisting the program and working with regional stakeholders to further develop the program.
What You’ll Do
As a NEIWPCC Environmental Analyst, you will:
Develop plans to protect drinking water sources throughout the State of New York and serve as a resource for regional staff who develop and implement plans across New York state
Collaborate with state agencies, regional planning boards, municipal leaders, water operators, local health departments and other stakeholders to implement plans and to coordinate and develop the program.
Assist with other tasks related to water supply protection, such as water quality sampling, database management, data analysis, performing sanitary surveys or capacity assessments for public water systems.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion and interest in preserving and advancing water quality. Ideally the candidate will have:
A degree in environmental sciences or related field, and three years of professional or technical experience.
Knowledge of and experience with aspects of drinking water quality programs, state/federal regulations, and watershed management.
Experience collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders in implementing environmental programs.
Competence in statistical analysis of large data sets and competence in GIS is highly valued.
Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.
Logistics
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in the New York State Department of Health office located in Albany, NY. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting with occasional travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation is required. After six months of employment, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval and program needs. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
What We Offer
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
