Highlighting the panel presentation will be authors Mark Anthony Neal, Ph.D. and Bakari Kitwana and celebrity hip hop photographer, Ernie Paniccoli, "THE Hip Hop Photo King." The authors and panel will explore issues surrounding the movement, including its criminal image and the objectification of women. The impact of the music on American popular culture, including fashion, and language will also be discussed. Dr. Neal, an associate professor at Duke University, is known for That's the Joint! and The Hip-Hop Studies Reader. Kitwana has written Why White Kids Love Hip Hop and is a Kent University Visiting Scholar. Groups are welcome to the event
