This workshop is intended for language teachers at all levels, so whether you teach at the secondary level, college or university basic language courses, or upper level college or university courses, you are invited to attend. While the presenters of the workshop are faculty in Spanish, and therefore the majority of the examples will deal with Spanish, the workshop is designed to accommodate teachers of all languages. Examples will illustrate ways that language teachers at all levels, and regardless of linguistic background, can use many pieces of linguistic data and their connections to historical information, cultural artifacts, and personal experiences that will strike a nerve and make students want to know more about their language (and culture) of study. In this way language teachers will learn how to make practical and engaging applications of linguistics that will be pedagogically effective in different types of courses
